Senate Approves Nine Legislative Bills in Recent Session


Islamabad: The Senate has successfully passed a series of nine bills during its recent session. These legislative measures encompass a diverse range of issues, including trade, child marriage, anti-rape investigations, technological advancement, motor vehicle regulations, highway safety, economic corridor management, and the protection of national emblems.



According to Radio Pakistan, the bills approved include ‘The Trade Organizations (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025’, which aims to update policies governing trade organizations. Additionally, ‘The Islamabad Capital Territory Child Marriage Restraint Bill, 2025’ addresses legal measures to prevent child marriages in the capital territory. ‘The Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2023’ seeks amendments to improve the investigation and trial processes for rape cases.



The session also saw the approval of ‘The University of Innovation and Technology Bill, 2023’, which focuses on establishing a new institution dedicated to technological advancement and innovation. Amendments to existing vehicular and highway regulations were passed through ‘The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2024’ and ‘The National Highways Safety (Amendment) Bill, 2024’, respectively.



‘The China Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2022’ aims to enhance the management of the economic corridor, while ‘The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2023’ introduces further changes to regional vehicle regulations. Lastly, ‘The Pakistan Names and Emblems (Prevention of Unauthorized Use) (Amendment) Bill, 2023’ seeks to prevent the misuse of national symbols.



The legislative body has been adjourned and is scheduled to reconvene on Thursday at 10:30 in the morning.
