Kech: A seminar was organized in Kech, Balochistan on ‘Development and Security – A Shared Responsibility’. It aimed at creating awareness among the public that establishing rule of law and eradication of terrorism and crime are not only the responsibility of the state but it is the joint responsibility of the society.
According to Radio Pakistan, the seminar was attended by around 200 people from different walks of life, including members of the Balochistan Assembly, local politicians, civil administration, representatives of security institutions, traders’ association, lawyers, doctors, intellectuals, tribal elders, and members of the press club.
Speakers at the seminar emphasized that participation of the people and their close coordination with security institutions is essential for lasting peace, development, and prosperity.
On the occasion, IG FC Balochistan (South) Major General Bilal Sarfaraz Khan stated that the FC is at the forefront of providing security to create a conducive environment for development and welfare works in the province. He briefed that since January this year, FC Balochistan (South) has timely thwarted 141 terrorist attacks, which could have potentially led to major tragedies.
He highlighted some major initiatives which FC is participating in, including the construction of houses for widows, rehabilitation of schools, madrasas, and primary health centers, arranging free medical camps and sports activities, solar systems, holding jirgas and open courts to resolve public issues, establishment of FC Khidmat Markaz, and educational development of youth.
Participants of the seminar expressed the resolve to fully realize their responsibilities and play a positive and active role in collaboration with the security agencies. The seminar adopted a declaration to establish a Kech Civil Liaison Committee, which will provide an effective platform for mutual coordination, effective communication, and problem-solving.
