Lahore: PML-N leader Sajida Farooq Tarar, who is also the mother of the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has described the launch of Pakistan's first government-run Maryam Nawaz School and Resource Centre for Autism in Lahore as a historic and humanitarian initiative.
According to Radio Pakistan, correspondent Qasim Bukhari, Sajida Farooq Tarar expressed that the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has made a significant impact on the lives of autistic children and their families with this special project. The centre offers a new opportunity for children with autism, who previously had limited access to state care and support.
Sajida Farooq Tarar highlighted the Chief Minister's personal engagement with the children, which includes participating in activities such as coloring, music therapy, and walking with them. She emphasized that authentic leadership goes beyond policy decisions and involves genuine care for individuals.
The modern facilities available at the centre, such as pre-vocational training, speech therapy, art therapy, music therapy, and occupational therapy, were also acknowledged by Sajida Farooq Tarar as commendable. She believes that the Autism Centre will play a crucial role in helping children with autism achieve a dignified and secure future.
Further, Sajida Farooq Tarar remarked that the centre represents more than just an infrastructure; it is a realization of dreams for numerous families and a beacon of hope, support, and new beginnings for special children. She concluded that initiatives like these foster humanity, empathy, and inclusion in society.
