Safeguarding Rights of Visually Impaired Priority: President, PM


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity, rights, and full participation of persons with visual impairment. In their messages on World Braille Day being observed today, they emphasized the government’s dedication to providing equal opportunities for individuals with special needs.



According to Radio Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari highlighted that the country remains steadfast in honoring its commitments under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This commitment is aimed at fostering an inclusive and equitable society where the rights of all individuals, including those with visual impairments, are respected and upheld.



Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to protecting the rights of all special persons, with a particular focus on those who are visually impaired. He called upon educational institutions, civil society, the private sector, and the media to enhance their collaborative efforts in promoting Braille literacy, underscoring the importance of joint endeavors in creating a more inclusive society.
