Rs1.3 Billion Allocated for Flood Relief Efforts, National Assembly Informed


Islamabad: Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has announced that all available resources will be utilized in collaboration with provincial authorities to rehabilitate those affected by the recent floods. During a session in the National Assembly, Tarar revealed that 1.3 billion rupees have been allocated to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for rescue and relief operations.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Law Minister provided the latest statistics indicating that 884 people have lost their lives and 1,181 have been injured due to the floods. He also confirmed that 2.1 million individuals have been evacuated from the affected regions. Details of the compensation package were shared, with two million rupees allocated to the families of the deceased, five hundred thousand rupees for those severely injured, and two hundred thousand rupees for other injured individuals.



Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal participated in the discussion, highlighting the importance of empowering local government systems to effectively manage disasters like floods. He advocated for the construction of dams to improve water storage capacity. Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri stressed the necessity of timely relief for those impacted by the floods.



Jamal Shah Kakar called for prioritizing the issues faced by Balochistan, while Usman Badini recommended forming a parliamentary committee to address these concerns. Responding to points raised about the situation in Balochistan, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary condemned a recent terror attack at a political rally in Quetta and emphasized enforcing the National Action Plan with provincial cooperation to eradicate terrorism.



The National Assembly passed a resolution condemning the terrorist attack on a rally of the Balochistan National Party in Quetta, urging the provincial government to ensure justice by apprehending those responsible. The session of the House has now been prorogued.
