Boston: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has highlighted the deep-rooted strategic and economic ties between Pakistan and the United States. He advocated for diplomatic solutions and regional peace in an increasingly complex global landscape.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Sheikh emphasized the need for cooperation, not competition, as the foundation for future international relations during a fireside chat at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies. The event was organized by Boston University’s Center for Asian Studies. He described the Pak-US partnership as a pivotal relationship for the entire world and stressed the importance of strong bilateral relations between the two significant nations.
The Ambassador noted that Pak-US bilateral relations have historically been framed in a security context, and mentioned that the United States is seeking a strategic partnership with Pakistan based on economic relations. He pointed out Pakistan’s vast mineral resources, cost-competitive labor, and a large pool of youthful and talented human resources as key advantages.
Regarding India-Pakistan tensions, Ambassador Sheikh warned of the dangers posed by nuclear-armed neighbors, referencing the 88-hour crisis in May 2025. He credited President Trump’s facilitation in securing a ceasefire and called for mediated engagement between the rival nations. This engagement, he suggested, could address concerns on both sides and enable economic development that could lift millions from poverty in South Asia.
