Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said reducing the production cost of industrial products for local industry, trade and the local population is a priority for the government. He was chairing a review meeting to evaluate the recommendations of the sub-working group established for customs duty and other reforms in the trade sector.
According to Radio Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif noted that the National Tariff Policy approved by the government is a step that will enhance domestic industrial production and make businesses competitive in both local and international markets. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for close monitoring of customs duty collection at borders, especially for bilateral and transit trade products with other countries.
The sub-working group, consisting of representative business figures, briefed the Prime Minister on issues related to customs and tax collection and presented their recommendations. The Prime Minister welcomed these recommendations and issued instructions to the relevant ministries and departments to provide facilitation to enhance domestic industrial production and support businesses and investors.
