Rana Tanveer Hails Backed Seed Potato Centre in Islamabad


Islamabad: Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has expressed his support for the establishment of the Seed Potato Production and Supply Centre in Islamabad, which is to be developed in collaboration with Korea.



According to Radio Pakistan, the minister was speaking to a delegation from the research team of the Korea International Cooperation Agency during their visit to the Federal Capital. The delegation presented a feasibility study for the proposed project titled “Establishment of Seed Potato Production and Supply Centre.”



The minister highlighted that this project has the potential to significantly decrease Pakistan’s reliance on imports and aid in achieving self-sufficiency in high-quality seed production. He noted that the introduction of Korean technology offers a valuable chance for Pakistan to modernize its seed systems. This modernization could enhance productivity by up to twenty percent and increase farmers’ access to virus-free certified seed.
