Radio Pakistan and NADRA Collaborate to Enhance Civil Registration Awareness

Islamabad: Radio Pakistan and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have formalized a collaboration to enhance public awareness about civil registration. This partnership was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Director Programmes Radio Pakistan, Ms. Musarat Shahrukh, and Director Public Engagement and Spokesperson NADRA, Syed Shabahat Ali, in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the signing ceremony was witnessed by Director General Radio Pakistan Saeed Ahmed Shaikh and Chairman NADRA Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar. The MoU outlines a plan where Radio Pakistan will broadcast awareness messages and programs to educate the public on the importance of timely registration of life events through NADRA’s “Pak-ID” mobile app.

The initiative aims to inform the public about the registration process for events such as birth, death, marriage, and divorce. These events are first registered with the Union Council and subsequently updated in NADRA’s civil records. This effort particularly targets citizens in remote areas with limited access to digital connectivity and modern facilities like smartphones.

NADRA has recently integrated these services into its “Pak-ID” mobile app to streamline the civil registration system, eliminating the need for citizens to visit Union Council offices by allowing them to update their life records digitally from home.

Additionally, NADRA officials and representatives will participate in Radio Pakistan programs, providing direct interaction with the public. Citizens can engage with NADRA representatives by tuning into Radio Pakistan’s thirty-four FM stations, which broadcast in fourteen different languages. The collaboration also includes broadcasting ‘Khuli Katchehry’ sessions organized by NADRA across its zones to further facilitate public engagement.
