Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to introduce a modern solid waste management system in urban centres. The initiative aims to streamline waste collection and improve environmental management within the province.
According to Radio Pakistan, under the new project, waste bins reflecting specific colours will be installed for the collection of solid waste. This system is designed to simplify the segregation of waste at the source. Yellow waste bins will be designated for paper and packing materials, while green waste bins will be used specifically for glass bottles and glass pieces. Additionally, grey waste bins will be placed for the collection of fruits, vegetables, meals, and other rotten food items. Orange waste bins will be utilized for the collection of plastic waste.
The introduction of this modern system is expected to enhance the efficiency of waste management services and contribute to cleaner urban environments.
