Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced that the provincial government is issuing seventy-five thousand minority cards under the Minority Card Programme aimed at the welfare of minorities. She shared this information while speaking with a seven-member Sikh delegation from the United States, which met her in Lahore today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the restoration and maintenance of gurdwaras are being conducted on a fast-track basis to ensure maximum facilitation for Sikh pilgrims throughout the province. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support and honor the Sikh community’s religious practices.

She also highlighted that Pakistan is the only country to have implemented the Sikh Marriage Act, which respects the religious identity, beliefs, and traditions of the Sikh community. The act serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to safeguarding minority rights and promoting religious harmony.

The Chief Minister further stated that the Punjab government welcomes investment from the Sikh community in sectors such as religious tourism and the hotel industry, which could foster economic growth and enhance cultural exchanges.
