Lahore: Chairperson Punjab CM's Task Force on Skill Development, Adnan Afzal Chattha, emphasized the significant role of youth in the country's future. In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan Correspondent Qasim Bukhari, he announced that the Punjab government has initiated several programs for youth welfare, with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz declaring 2026 as the 'Year of Youth.'
According to Radio Pakistan, Adnan Afzal Chattha stated that resources have been redirected towards youth development in alignment with the Prime Minister's vision. This includes the provision of laptops and 'Honhaar' scholarships to aid students in their educational pursuits. The establishment of the Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Department is a government priority to enhance skill development among the youth.
He added that 380 TEVTA institutes are actively offering vocational training to students throughout Punjab. Additionally, the Punjab Skills Development Fund is executing specialized skills programs in partnership with the private sector.
The Chairperson also mentioned that the provincial government, in collaboration with SMEDA, is developing business plans to foster solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
