Islamabad:Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for neglecting the strengthening of security institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past thirteen years, prioritizing political agitation over public welfare.
According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar made these remarks during a news conference alongside the Prime Minister's Coordinator Ikhtiar Wali Khan and MPA Jalal Khan. He highlighted that the province, known for its natural beauty and tourist attractions, has been deprived of necessary development and facilities.
The minister pointed out that the return and resettlement of militants in settled areas after military operations such as Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad have compromised peace efforts. Despite receiving seven hundred billion rupees through the National Finance Commission during the PTI's governance, the provincial government reportedly failed to enhance security institutions like the Counter-Terrorism Department, police force, and forensic laboratories.
Tarar also mentioned the absence of Safe City cameras in the former tribal districts and accused the PTI of being aligned with the TTP, failing to condemn terrorist activities. Additionally, he criticized the former PTI chairman for focusing on meetings with spokespersons over pressing economic and administrative issues.
