Protecting Youth from Drugs Collective Responsibility: VC DATH

Lahore: Vice Chairman of the Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH), Syed Mohsin Zulfiqar, emphasized that safeguarding the younger generation from drug abuse is a collective responsibility involving all segments of society.

According to Radio Pakistan, in an exclusive interview with correspondent Qasim Bukhari, Zulfiqar expressed his approval of the establishment of the Counter Narcotics Force Punjab, considering it a significant and effective initiative aimed at securing a safer future for the province's youth. He commended Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's vision, highlighting the declaration of 2026 as the 'Year of Youth' as a testament to the government's commitment to empowering young people. The Counter Narcotics Force Punjab, aligned with this vision, is actively combating drug abuse throughout the province.

Syed Mohsin Zulfiqar lauded the efforts of Director General Counter Narcotics Force Punjab, Brigadier Mazhar Iqbal, asserting that the zero-tolerance policy against drug traffickers clearly demonstrates his resolve and determination. He mentioned that under the Drug Advisory Training Hub's auspices, awareness programs on drug prevention are being conducted in universities and colleges, aiming to shield the youth from this social issue.

He further highlighted DATH's accomplishments, citing the province-wide ban on sheesha culture as a result of the organization's sustained efforts. The core mission of DATH, he noted, is to transform Punjab into a drug-free province.

Zulfiqar urged the Punjab Chief Minister to establish a dedicated drug rehabilitation center alongside measures to curb narcotics supply, to aid in the treatment and rehabilitation of affected individuals. He expressed determination that the Drug Advisory Training Hub will set up a 50-bed drug rehabilitation center within the year, in line with its capacity and resources.
