Islamabad:President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the importance of enhancing Pakistan's historic partnership with Türkiye through closer cooperation in various sectors including trade, investment, defence, education, and culture.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari expressed these sentiments in a letter to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye. In his letter, he highlighted the exceptional bond of brotherhood between the two nations, which is deeply rooted in a common history, faith, shared values, and enduring ties between their peoples.

President Zardari noted Türkiye's significant progress over the past century, mentioning its strengthened institutions, advanced economic development, and increased standing in regional and international affairs. He expressed Pakistan's deep appreciation for the solidarity and generous support extended by Türkiye during challenging times.

Further, President Zardari expressed confidence that the historic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye will continue to thrive through enhanced political engagement and closer cooperation across areas of mutual interest. He also referred to the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, expressing his belief that it will further cement relations, deepen strategic cooperation among Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia, and contribute to lasting peace, security, and stability in the region and beyond.
