President, PM Pledge to Safeguard Country’s Sovereignty

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have renewed their pledge to uphold and safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari emphasized that Pakistan’s nuclear capability serves as a credible minimum deterrent, ensuring peace and safeguarding national security. He highlighted that Pakistan is committed to peaceful coexistence and adherence to international law, despite recent unprovoked aggression from India.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on Youm-e-Takbeer, praised Pakistan’s nuclear advancements and called for unity to transform the nation into an economic power. He linked this year’s commemoration to Pakistan’s success in defending itself from the recent conflict with India, urging the nation to extend the spirit of Youm-e-Takbeer beyond defense into economic transformation.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar remarked that Youm-e-Takbeer symbolizes the nation’s determination and unity in facing challenges. He recalled the historical significance of May 28, 1998, when Pakistan conducted six nuclear tests in response to India’s actions, reinforcing the country’s defense. Tarar stated that Pakistan’s recent victory in thwarting India’s plans under Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership continues the legacy of national defense established in 1998.

Tarar assured that Pakistan’s defense remains robust, with full confidence in the armed forces, scientists, and political leaders. He reiterated that Youm-e-Takbeer is a day to renew the commitment to respond decisively to any aggression, maintaining unwavering security and sovereignty.
