Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have called for strengthening the resolve to protect the environment, use natural resources responsibly, and leave a safer and more resilient Pakistan for future generations. In their separate messages on World Environment Day, they emphasized Pakistan's commitment to international cooperation on climate and environmental issues.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari stated that Pakistan will continue to support efforts aimed at ecosystem restoration, renewable energy, disaster preparedness, and climate-resilient development. He urged the public to use water responsibly, reduce waste, protect forests, preserve biodiversity, and promote cleaner energy sources.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, highlighted this year's theme, 'Climate Action,' as a powerful reminder of the urgent need for coordinated global action to address the environmental challenges facing humanity. He emphasized that such action is indispensable for overcoming these challenges.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also issued a message emphasizing the need for deepening international cooperation to tackle the interconnected challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation. He reiterated the Government of Pakistan's commitment to prioritizing environmental protection in its policies, advancing climate-resilient housing, accelerating the transition to clean energy, and promoting sustainable construction practices.
