Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the need to expand collaboration between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates in key areas such as investment, energy, the digital economy, and infrastructure development. This call to action came during a meeting with UAE Ambassador Salem Mohammed Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi, who visited the President in Islamabad today.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari highlighted the UAE’s position as Pakistan’s largest trading partner in the Middle East. He also commended the Pakistani community residing in the UAE for their significant contributions to the development of the region, noting that they serve as a crucial link between the two nations.
The discussions during the meeting focused on reinforcing the strong brotherly ties between Pakistan and the UAE. Both parties explored avenues to enhance cooperation across political, economic, defense, and people-to-people domains. President Zardari extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed Ambassador and expressed appreciation for his predecessor’s service. He also reiterated Pakistan’s gratitude for the UAE’s ongoing support, particularly in economic and infrastructure sectors.
Furthermore, President Zardari expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to host UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on an official visit, emphasizing the importance of scheduling the visit at mutually convenient dates. He noted the longstanding relationship between his family and the UAE, which dates back to the establishment of the Emirates, and highlighted the personal ties that continue to bind the two nations.
