President and Prime Minister Reaffirm Commitment to Human Rights Protection


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protect and promote human rights and safeguard the liberty, dignity, and self-esteem of all citizens. In their messages on World Human Rights Day, they emphasized the constitutional guarantee of freedom for every citizen, irrespective of caste, creed, or color.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding fundamental human rights, focusing on protecting human dignity and ensuring equal opportunities for all. Meanwhile, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Amir Muqam, emphasized the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in alignment with UN resolutions for regional peace.



During an event in Islamabad marking World Human Rights Day, Muqam highlighted ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the IIOJK people, asserting that their determination for self-determination remains unshaken despite oppression.



Muqam also noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has consistently raised the Jammu and Kashmir issue at international forums, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people.
