Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and widespread displacement caused by severe flooding across Southeast Asia. The President acknowledged the tragedy, which has claimed hundreds of lives and left many missing, as a source of great distress for the people of Pakistan. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and to the governments and people of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
According to Radio Pakistan, the President emphasized that Pakistan will remain closely engaged with regional partners and international organizations to explore practical ways to offer support within its means. He assured that Pakistan stands by the affected countries as they navigate this crisis and prayed for the departed and for the safe recovery of those missing.
The Prime Minister, in his message, echoed similar sentiments, praying for the safe return of those still missing and for the swift recovery of all affected communities. He stated that Pakistan stands in solidarity with the people, governments, and leadership of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand in this hour of grief.
