Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his government's commitment to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country through the united efforts of the nation and the armed forces of Pakistan. He was addressing participants of the National Workshop from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized that national security remains a top priority for the current government, with a comprehensive strategy being implemented to tackle both internal and external security challenges. He assured that, with the support of the nation and the armed forces, the government is well-prepared to confront these challenges. He expressed optimism that through dedication, trust, and integrity, Pakistan will soon achieve its rightful position among the global community.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the strategic significance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province that has been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism. He acknowledged the unparalleled sacrifices made by the people of the province and the security forces in this struggle. He also recalled the generosity of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the Afghan war, as they warmly welcomed four million Afghan refugees.
Addressing the country's economic situation, the Prime Minister noted that Pakistan has achieved macro-economic stability and is now focusing on enhancing growth in various sectors, including agriculture, trade, exports, and Information Technology. He mentioned the 2010 NFC Award, highlighting Punjab's initiative to allocate one percent of its share to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recognition of its sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
Regarding last year's unprovoked Indian aggression, the Prime Minister stated that Pakistan promptly retaliated in self-defense, successfully downing seven enemy aircraft. He praised the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, under whom the Pakistani army delivered a memorable lesson to the adversary.
The Prime Minister also addressed the issue of malicious propaganda against the armed forces on social media, allegedly backed by foreign countries, and reiterated his commitment to counter all such malevolent schemes.
