PM Vows to Defeat Terrorism Through Unified Effort

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need for unity to deal with challenges including terrorism and extremism. He was talking to members of the Qaumi Paigham-e-Aman Committee, who called on him in Islamabad on Friday. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Committee would play a pivotal role in strengthening the national narrative against extremism and terrorism, similar to the historic role played by Ulema and Mashaekh during the creation of Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister said Pakistan was created to implement the principles of peace, justice, and tolerance. He emphasized that forging unity is needed today more than ever before. He commended the significant role of minorities in the development of Pakistan and their valuable services in different sectors including education, health, and defence. Shehbaz Sharif particularly mentioned Cecil Chaudhry and Justice Rana Bhagwandas for their commitment and unforgettable role for Pakistan.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Almighty Allah has blessed Pakistan with vast natural resources worth trillions of dollars, which, if explored effectively, could help overcome challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and debt. He expressed optimism that utilizing these hidden treasures could resolve the country's problems. Shehbaz Sharif noted that the country is now steadily moving towards prosperity and stability, but there remains a dire need to stamp out terrorism once and for all.

Turning to the sacrifices of the nation and the armed forces of Pakistan in the war against terrorism, the Prime Minister recalled Pakistan's strength demonstrated in May 2025 during Marka-e-Haq, when it decisively defeated India. He attributed India's defeat to the blessings of Allah Almighty and the professional capabilities of the armed forces under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He urged the international community to acknowledge Pakistan's immense sacrifices and mentioned possessing solid evidence of external support being extended to terrorist elements in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's firm resolve to defeat terrorism through a unified national effort. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar stated that the national narrative to curb terrorism and promote peace and stability would be further strengthened. He mentioned that members of the Qaumi Paigham-e-Aman Committee would visit different cities across the country to convey a message of peace and counter hate-based narratives.

Convener of the Qaumi Paigham-e-Aman Committee, Maulana Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Allama Ragib Naeemi, and other Ulema expressed their unflinching commitment to support the government's efforts to crush terrorism and extremism from the country.
