PM Urges Afghan Taliban Regime to Rein in Terrorist Groups


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called upon the Afghan Taliban regime to control terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil and conducting attacks within Pakistan. During an address in the National Assembly, following the passage of the 27th constitutional amendment, he highlighted the involvement of foreign elements in terrorist activities in the federal capital and Wana. Sharif assured that Pakistan is aware of the adversaries’ actions and is prepared to respond effectively, as it has done previously. He emphasized that terrorist groups like the TTP and BLA, supported by foreign entities, will not be allowed to hinder Pakistan’s peace, progress, and development.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s desire for peace in Afghanistan and invited Afghan authorities to engage sincerely with Pakistan for regional stability and advancement. He praised the security forces for their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.



Regarding the constitutional amendment, Sharif noted that the parliament has shown national unity and solidarity. He expressed gratitude to the coalition partners for their significant contributions and discussions on the amendment. He reiterated the importance of establishing a federal constitutional court, as outlined in the charter of democracy, and called for an end to abusive political discourse, advocating for unity to guide the country toward economic growth.



Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted the country’s enhanced global standing following the success in Marka-e-Haq. He acknowledged the national appreciation for the government’s decision to bestow the title of Field Marshal upon Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, noting that this title is now enshrined in the constitution, reflecting the nation’s respect for its heroes.



The National Assembly session has been adjourned and will reconvene tomorrow at four pm.
