Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on an anti-polio team in the Matta area of Swat. In a statement, he expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of a security official who was tasked with protecting the anti-polio team. Commiserating with the bereaved family, he prayed for the departed soul.
According to Radio Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif stated that a terrorist attack on those performing the vital public service of eradicating polio is intolerable. He reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to the eradication of polio from the country. He said that despite such resistance from terrorists, the anti-polio campaign continues with full force and will persist until polio is entirely eliminated.
Meanwhile, First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the attack on an anti-polio team in Swat’s Matta area. In a statement, she expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of life. The First Lady said those who target health workers and security personnel, engaged in the mission of protecting children from preventable diseases, are enemies of humanity. She reaffirmed that the eradication of polio remains a top national priority and emphasized that such acts cannot shake Pakistan’s resolve to ensure a healthy, safe, and polio-free future for every child. The First Lady extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
