PM Shehbaz Sharif to Embark on State Visit to Azerbaijan from Monday


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will embark on a two-day state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan from Monday, at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev. This marks Shehbaz Sharif’s second visit to Azerbaijan since he assumed office in March 2024.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, which includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with other key cabinet members. This visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its engagement with Azerbaijan. The two countries are set to engage in discussions on mutual interests to enhance cooperation in energy, trade, defense, education, and climate sectors.



Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements are expected to be signed during the visit, covering multiple areas of cooperation. A highlight of the visit will be the Prime Minister’s keynote speech at a Business Forum, organized in collaboration with Azerbaijan’s Export and Investment Promotion Agency.



Additionally, the Prime Minister, along with the President of Azerbaijan, will visit Fuzuli, Karabagh, as part of a special tour of the liberated territories of Karabakh. This visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Azerbaijan, fostering economic collaboration, and exploring new avenues for shared development.
