PM Shehbaz Sharif Pledges Support for Minority Progress and Prosperity

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured the minority community of the government’s full support in their journey towards progress and prosperity. He was addressing a ceremony held in Islamabad in connection with the Christmas celebrations. The Prime Minister made it clear that no one will be allowed to commit injustice against minorities under any circumstances.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed his resolve to stand firm with the minorities for the protection of their rights, stating that the country belongs to all citizens, who all have equal rights. Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Islam imparts teachings of love, peace, equality, justice, and brotherhood, echoing the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAWW) to treat others with love and affection.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the Constitution of Pakistan stresses the protection of minority rights, including those of Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, and Parsis. Referencing Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s speech on religious freedom, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that Pakistan’s founding vision allows freedom to worship in mosques, temples, churches, and gurdwaras, an essential feature of the nation’s Constitution.

He acknowledged the valuable contributions of minorities to national development, particularly the Christian community’s outstanding roles in education, justice, medicine, and defense. He specifically mentioned Justice A.R. Cornelius for his role in strengthening Pakistan’s judicial system; Group Captain Cecil Chaudhry for his defense services; and Dr. Ruth Pfau for her humanitarian work against leprosy.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the teachings of Hazrat Essa (A.S.), describing him as a symbol of peace, compassion, and service to humanity. He noted that the message of love, justice, and tolerance preached by Hazrat Essa (A.S.) remains deeply relevant today and aligns with the core principles of Islam and Pakistan’s founding vision.
