PM Shehbaz Sharif Backs Development of Special Economic Zones in Meeting with Chinese Delegation

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has affirmed the government's commitment to supporting the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) across Pakistan. He conveyed this assurance during a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese company Shandong Xinxu Group Corporation, headed by Chairman Hou Jianxin, in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to Chinese industries to invest in Pakistan, emphasizing the desire to elevate economic relations with China. He highlighted the enduring partnership between the two nations, noting that they have consistently supported each other in challenging times.

Prime Minister Sharif pointed out the significant potential within Pakistan's shipbreaking and ship recycling sectors. During the meeting, it was revealed that Shandong Xinxu Group Corporation is interested in establishing a maritime industrial complex in Pakistan. The Chinese company is planning to construct a green shipbreaking yard and aims to capitalize on Pakistan's potential in fishing, fish processing, and date processing industries.

On behalf of Shandong Xinxu Group Corporation, Chairman Hou Jianxin expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister for the facilities provided by the Government of Pakistan. The meeting was also attended by Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Advisor to the Prime Minister Touqeer Shah, and other relevant officials.
