PM Orders to Expand Use of ‘RAAST’ Among Businesses


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to accelerate efforts to encourage businesspersons across the country to use the RAAST platform. He gave these directions, while speaking at a meeting with the RAAST Board members in Islamabad today.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister congratulated the board members on assuming their new responsibilities and expressed confidence that this institution of national importance will be managed even more effectively. He emphasized the pivotal role RAAST plays in advancing a cashless economy and promoting financial inclusion.



During the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed that since its launch, RAAST has facilitated over three billion transactions, amounting to approximately 80 trillion rupees. The number of RAAST users has surpassed 48 million, with 53 financial institutions nationwide now part of the system.



It was further noted that all board members, except one, have been selected from the private sector based on their extensive experience. The briefing highlighted that the institution’s vision is to shift all Government-to-Business (G2B) and Business-to-Government (B2G) payments across the country to RAAST. Through this platform, every individual has been provided with a secure and reliable digital payment system.
