Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the government is actively working for the safe return of Pakistanis detained by Israel from the Global Sumud Flotilla, especially former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan. He was discussing the issues related to the Middle East Situation and Ceasefire in Palestine during a telephonic conversation with the Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan is in constant contact with friendly countries and international organizations to ensure the release and safe return of its citizens. He reiterated that Pakistan does not recognize the Israeli state, nor does it have any diplomatic relations with it. Shehbaz Sharif assured that the Pakistanis detained from the Global Sumud Flotilla will be brought back home safely at the earliest.
He emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Palestine and an immediate end to the ongoing massacre of Palestinians, stating that Pakistan’s stance on the Palestine issue is firm and unambiguous. The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan has consistently raised its voice in support of unarmed Palestinian brothers and sisters on every international forum and will continue to advocate for the Palestinian cause before the international community.
During the conversation, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s support for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He mentioned that eight Muslim countries are actively working towards a ceasefire in Palestine and expressed hope that these efforts will soon bring peace and fulfill the long-standing dream of an independent Palestinian state.
Both leaders also discussed the ongoing situation in Kashmir, with the Prime Minister affirming that the federal government will continue to play an active role in promoting peace in the region.
