Riyadh: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Saudi Arabia on a two-day visit to attend the "One Water Summit" in Riyadh. This summit is a collaborative effort by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank, aiming to foster global cooperation and establish a unified international strategy for managing water resources through high-level political commitments. According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at a Roundtable during the Summit. His speech will focus on the restoration, preservation, and adaptation concerning freshwater resources and wetlands. Furthermore, he will shed light on the measures Pakistan is implementing to enhance water conservation, bolster climate resilience, improve water quality, create sustainable livelihoods, and conserve biodiversity. The Prime Minister is also set to emphasize the critical need for international cooperation to address the challenges posed by climate-induced floods, unpredictable and extreme weather conditions, and heat stress affecting water resources and ecosystems. On the sidelines of the Summit, he is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with other attending leaders. Accompanying the Prime Minister are Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
