PM Directs Roadmap for Boosting Agricultural Exports


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the formulation of a roadmap aimed at increasing agricultural exports over the next five years. He emphasized the importance of reforming the agricultural sector and aligning it with globally accepted practices, marking it as a top priority for the government.



According to Radio Pakistan, during a meeting of the Working Group on Agriculture Reforms in Islamabad, the Prime Minister highlighted the collaborative efforts of both federal and provincial governments in developing the agricultural sector. These efforts include providing quality seeds, timely and reasonably priced fertilizers, and medicines to prevent crop diseases, all aimed at boosting per-acre productivity.



Shehbaz Sharif outlined that policy-level initiatives are being undertaken to enhance the export potential of agricultural commodities through better processing techniques. He also mentioned the recent government-sponsored training of one thousand Pakistani students in China, focusing on modern agricultural technology.



The Prime Minister stressed the significant potential for development within the agricultural sector. Investments are being directed towards agricultural research to optimize productivity within existing resources. Furthermore, initiatives are underway to increase exports of fisheries, fruits, and related products.



In addition, Shehbaz Sharif called for the development of policy measures to promote palm oil production along the coastal belt, underscoring the need for strategic planning in agricultural advancements.
