PM Calls for Enhancing Pak-Iran Bilateral Ties


Ashgabat: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian in Ashgabat. During their meeting, both leaders appreciated the strong support that their countries had provided to each other when they faced external aggression earlier this year.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of continuing close cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations. He emphasized enhancing the volume of bilateral trade, operationalizing border markets, strengthening border security, and improving transport connectivity through the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul rail network.



The leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments, with the Prime Minister stressing the need for the Afghan Taliban regime to take meaningful action to address Pakistan’s security concerns regarding terrorism from Afghan soil. They also discussed ongoing peace efforts in Gaza.



President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for the exchange of views and conveyed Iran’s desire to strengthen ties with Pakistan. The meeting underscored the close relations between Pakistan and Iran, rooted in shared history, culture, and faith. Both leaders agreed on the importance of regular high-level engagements to consolidate bilateral relations further.



In closing, the Prime Minister conveyed warm regards and good wishes for His Eminence Ayatollah Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran.
