Karachi: Chief Executive Officer of Pink Ribbon Pakistan, Omer Aftab, has announced the annual launch of the Pink Ribbon campaign in October to raise awareness about breast cancer. The campaign, known as PINKtober, is conducted in various countries, including Pakistan, and underscores the importance of early detection, education, and continued research support.

According to Radio Pakistan, Omer Aftab highlighted in a conversation with Correspondent Zunaira Khalid that the PINKtober campaign involves a range of activities. These include programs aimed at engaging youth, Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising, and the distribution of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials. Additionally, the campaign features press conferences, seminars, and the symbolic illumination of notable buildings in pink across the nation.

The initiative aims to contribute to the shared goal of reducing female mortality rates through early breast cancer diagnosis. Aftab noted that PINKtober serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of early detection and prompt treatment. He also emphasized the need for ongoing commitment to overcoming breast cancer.
