Peace Comes First for Pakistani People: DG ISPR

Islamabad: Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has affirmed that the people of Pakistan can never be deterred, coerced, or subdued by aggression and Indian hegemony. In a recent interview with R T Arabic, he emphasized the resilience of the Pakistani nation and its armed forces against any attempts by India to intimidate them.

According to Radio Pakistan, Lt. Gen. Chaudhry highlighted that the international community has witnessed the steadfast stance of the Pakistani nation, likening it to an “iron wall” in the face of Indian aggression. He reiterated that peace remains the foremost priority for the Pakistani people, and the global community now better understands this commitment.

The DG ISPR attributed the root cause of India-Pakistan tensions to India’s role as a sponsor and abettor of terrorism in the region, particularly in Pakistan. He criticized India for failing to acknowledge this fact and for hiding behind a false narrative of terrorism while acting unilaterally.

Lt. Gen. Chaudhry recalled the Pahalgam incident, pointing out that India accused Pakistan without any evidence. Despite Pakistan’s willingness to cooperate by asking India to provide proof to any neutral body for investigation, India chose to attack Pakistani mosques and harm innocent civilians.

In response to these actions, Pakistan retaliated in a mature and proportionate manner, targeting only military installations while sparing civilian infrastructure. This response, according to the DG ISPR, was both swift and effective, causing India to reconsider its stance.

Following Pakistan’s measured retaliation, the Indian Defence Ministry spokesperson sought de-escalation, a move welcomed by Pakistan. International mediators then intervened to broker a ceasefire, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to peace.

Lt. Gen. Chaudhry also praised Pakistan’s diplomatic corps for their adept handling of the situation on the international stage, highlighting their remarkable engagement with the global community.
