Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the urgent need for dialogue between Pakistan and India to address lingering disputes and move towards regional stability. Speaking at the Youm-i-Tashakkur ceremony at Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, he highlighted the unity of the nation and its armed forces in the face of Indian aggression.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the armed forces for their decisive response to Indian actions, particularly following the Pahalgam incident. He criticized India’s refusal to engage in a transparent investigation and recounted Pakistan’s strategic response on the night of May 9, which he described as a necessary action against unwarranted aggression.

Shehbaz Sharif commended the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its advanced technological integration and professionalism, which played a crucial role in countering India’s military initiatives. He expressed gratitude to international allies, including Turkiye, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iran, for their support. He also acknowledged US President Donald Trump for his efforts in preventing a potential conflict in South Asia.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of peace, stating that while Pakistan has demonstrated its military capability, the ultimate goal is to foster peaceful coexistence with India. He reiterated the need for dialogue on key issues such as Jammu and Kashmir and water distribution to achieve lasting peace. Emphasizing Pakistan’s position as a victim of terrorism, he urged for collaboration in countering this global threat.

The ceremony honored the sacrifices of martyrs with a Fateha prayer, and featured performances by the Pakistan Air Force and patriotic songs by artists Syeda Hadia Hashmi, Shabnam Majeed, and Sahir Ali Bagga.
