Pakistan’s 2027 SCO Leadership to Enhance Regional Ties

Islamabad:Former Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, China, and the United Nations, Sardar Masood Khan, has highlighted the strategic significance of Pakistan's upcoming chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in 2027. He emphasized that this role presents a crucial chance to foster regional connectivity, innovation, economic cooperation, and shared prosperity across Eurasia.

According to Radio Pakistan, Masood Khan expressed these views during a webinar organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, titled 'Post-Bishkek SCO Summit 2026: Challenges and Pakistan's Chairmanship.' He elaborated on how Pakistan could enhance Eurasian connectivity by integrating the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with Central Asian states, thereby facilitating their access to the Arabian Sea.

Moreover, he suggested that the 2027 SCO Summit could become a pivotal event for strengthening economic and security cooperation, underlining the organization's increasing influence in promoting a multipolar world order.
