Pakistani Lawmakers Warn India Against Escalating Tensions Over Pahalgam Attack

Islamabad: The Senate on Monday engaged in a heated discussion regarding the increasing tensions between India and Pakistan, triggered by what Pakistani lawmakers describe as a deliberate campaign by the Indian government to defame Pakistan in connection with the Pahalgam attack in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Radio Pakistan, Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui accused the Indian authorities of orchestrating a false flag operation with the Pahalgam incident to malign Pakistan. He criticized India for making baseless accusations without conducting thorough investigations or presenting any evidence. Siddiqui emphasized that Pakistan is a sovereign nation, and its people are united and ready to defend their country.

Senator Syed Ali Zafar echoed these sentiments, highlighting India’s alleged pattern of using incidents like Pahalgam for political gains. He stressed that India cannot unilaterally revoke or suspend the Indus Water Treaty, warning that any attempt to halt water would be perceived as an act of war by Pakistan, which would retaliate against any aggression.

Faisal Vawda assured that the entire nation stands united to protect the country from foreign threats, asserting that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared to respond effectively to any eventualities. Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar criticized the Indian government’s Hindutva politics, which he claimed marginalizes not only Muslims but other minority communities as well, positioning Pakistan as a barrier to India’s hegemonic ambitions.

Senator Kamran Murtaza condemned the Modi regime for allegedly jumping to conclusions without proper investigation. He stated that although Pakistan is a peace-loving nation, it should be prepared to respond with greater force if provoked.

Other senators, including Poonjo Bheel, Manzoor Kakar, Jan Muhammad, and Syed Shibli Faraz, also voiced their concerns during the session. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on Tuesday at three in the afternoon.
