Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, progress, and prosperity in the region and beyond. He made this statement during a ceremony in Islamabad held in connection with the United States’ Independence Day celebrations.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister praised US President Donald Trump for his role in facilitating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He emphasized that President Trump has demonstrated his commitment to peace and beneficial business partnerships, contributing to global tranquility and progress. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that the ceasefire would become permanent, fostering trade and investment opportunities.

In his address, Shehbaz Sharif requested the US Charge d’Affaires to extend Pakistan’s deepest gratitude to President Trump. He also highlighted the shared values between Pakistan and the US, underscoring the importance of constitutionalism, minority rights, and the rule of law in both nations. The Prime Minister paid tribute to the US founding fathers, noting the resonance of their ideals with those of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founding father.

Reflecting on the history of Pak-US relations, the Prime Minister acknowledged the economic support provided by the US through various collaborative projects. He expressed inspiration from President Trump’s vision for trade, investment, and tariff rationalization. Sharif mentioned ongoing engagements between Pakistan and the US aimed at addressing tariff issues and enhancing bilateral trade across sectors such as IT, energy, agriculture, health, and education.
