Peshawar: Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, emphasized that Pakistan seeks peace with all neighbors, including Afghanistan, but will not tolerate cross-border terrorism from Afghan soil against Pakistan. He made these remarks during his visit to Peshawar, where he held an interactive session with a Jirga of tribal elders.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Field Marshal highlighted that despite ongoing cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan, Pakistan has exercised patience over the past few years and extended multiple diplomatic and economic overtures to Afghanistan to improve bilateral relations. However, he noted that instead of acting decisively against Indian-sponsored terror proxies, Fitna Al Khwarij and Fitna Al Hindustan, the Afghan Taliban regime has been providing assistance to these groups.
Syed Asim Munir assured the tribal elders that Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will be cleansed of terrorists and their abettors. He acknowledged the steadfast and unconditional support rendered by the tribal people to the security forces during the recent standoff between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban. He paid tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the war against terrorism.
On the occasion, the tribal elders reiterated their full support to the Armed Forces against terrorism and against the Afghan Taliban. They appreciated the candid discourse by the Field Marshal and expressed their unwavering commitment to peace in Pakistan. They highlighted that Fitna Al Khwarij’s ideology had no acceptance among the tribes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Later, the Field Marshal was given a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security environment, operational preparedness, and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts to maintain peace and stability along the Pak-Afghan border. Upon arrival, he was received by Commander Peshawar Corps.
