Islamabad: Pakistan has urged India to return to the core principles of international order, including respect for the sovereign rights of others, adherence to treaty obligations, and restraint in both language and action.
According to Radio Pakistan, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, stated that it is regrettable, though not entirely unexpected, that the Indian Prime Minister has once again sidelined the ongoing project of historical revisionism and the internal repression of minorities to deliver another inflammatory monologue. He expressed concern over the Indian Prime Minister’s references to weaponizing water, a shared, treaty-bound resource, highlighting a troubling departure from international norms and a stark contrast between India’s regional conduct and its declared global ambitions.
The Spokesperson emphasized that a leadership truly in pursuit of international respect might first look inward and seek to cleanse its conscience before issuing threats to others. He accused the Indian government of being linked to extraterritorial assassinations and foreign subversion, and criticized its occupation of foreign people and territories. The record in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he noted, is marked by systematic repression, making it ironic for such a state to attempt to claim victimhood.
Shafqat Ali Khan further stated that ideological followers of India’s current government have normalized mob violence, promoted hate campaigns, and targeted religious minorities. He warned that while such acts may serve domestic optics, they cannot withstand international scrutiny nor inspire confidence in India’s image as a responsible regional power. He made it clear that jingoism might stir applause on the campaign trail but undermines long-term peace and stability.
The Spokesperson concluded by advising India’s youth, often the first casualty of chauvinistic nationalism, to reject the politics of fear and instead work towards a future defined by dignity, reason, and regional cooperation.
