Pakistan, UAE Agree to Boost Cooperation in Digital Governance


Abu Dhabi: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to enhance cooperation in digital governance and explore knowledge and technology exchange, especially in the public sector. The understanding came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, and Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement (DGE) Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al-Kebbi in Abu Dhabi.



According to Radio Pakistan, both sides discussed ways to benefit from each other’s experiences, particularly in leveraging artificial intelligence and digital technologies to modernize governance, improve public services, and promote sustainable economic development. The minister introduced ‘Uraan Pakistan’, a flagship national initiative that outlines Pakistan’s roadmap toward becoming a globally competitive, knowledge-based economy by 2047. He emphasized Pakistan’s serious commitment to aligning with modern governance practices and global technological advancements.



Discussions also included how the UAE’s digital transformation journey could support Pakistan’s development goals. The UAE side expressed willingness to assist Pakistan in adopting innovative models for improved governance and public service delivery. Ahsan Iqbal also praised the UAE’s visionary leadership in embracing digitalization and commended platforms like TAMM, which have improved citizen-government interaction by making it more efficient, accessible, and transparent.



The Minister also invited UAE experts to collaborate with Pakistan’s Planning Commission and relevant institutions to jointly work on projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), public sector innovation, and the broader goals of Uraan Pakistan.
