Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that Pakistan has always desired peace in South Asia but will never accept any violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Talking to Ambassador of Turkiye to Pakistan Irfan Neziroglu who called on him in Islamabad today, the Prime Minister said it was in this spirit of peace that Pakistan agreed to accept the ceasefire understanding with India.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the meeting with the Turkish ambassador, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for standing firmly with Pakistan during the recent tensions in South Asia. The Prime Minister highlighted President Erdogan’s steadfast support, which demonstrated his affection for the people of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister also extended his thanks to the people of Turkiye for their unwavering support during challenging times. This support has strengthened the fraternal ties between the two nations. He paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan for successfully executing “Operation Bunyan un Marsoos” and thanked Allah Almighty for the victory.
On bilateral relations, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the growing ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, which have been strengthening since President Erdogan’s visit to Islamabad in February. He emphasized the timely implementation of decisions made during high-level meetings and suggested convening the Joint Commission meeting at the Foreign Ministers’ level soon.
The Turkish Ambassador congratulated the Prime Minister and Pakistan on their military and diplomatic success. He expressed delight at Pakistan’s achievements and praised its efforts for peace in South Asia. The ambassador noted President Erdogan’s eagerness to further strengthen bilateral ties through continued high-level engagements.
