Islamabad: Pakistan has successfully defended its territorial integrity following a series of escalations with India, which had been violating Pakistan’s sovereignty since last Wednesday. Several foreign ministers from friendly countries communicated India’s strong interest in de-escalation and a ceasefire to Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, leading Pakistan to agree to the ceasefire in the interest of regional peace and stability.
According to Radio Pakistan, the incursions from India, including drone and missile attacks on Pakistan Air Force bases and airports, forced Pakistan to invoke its right to self-defense as outlined in Article 51 of the UN Charter. Pakistan’s actions served to demonstrate its commitment and capability to protect its territory and people, successfully achieving its objectives and restoring deterrence.
India’s attempts to establish a “new normal” in bilateral relations have been effectively countered, with Pakistan refusing to allow any imposition of hegemony in the region. Pakistan has condemned India’s actions as illegal under international law, labeling them as acts of war and a violation of the UN Charter and established norms of inter-state relations.
The situation has brought the two nuclear-armed nations perilously close to a major conflict, with Pakistan criticizing India’s reckless behavior and the potential consequences for the densely populated South Asian region. India had accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam Attack without credible evidence, ignoring Pakistan’s proposal for a neutral investigation.
Despite calls for restraint from the international community, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, India continued its aggressive stance. Pakistan has continued to engage with its international partners to highlight India’s intentions, which the recent actions have validated.
Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to defending its sovereignty and calls on the international community to hold India accountable for its conduct. While Pakistan desires lasting peace, it emphasizes that India must cease its aggressive actions for such peace to be achieved, warning that any aggression will meet with a matching response.
