Pakistan Strongly Condemns Deadly Ambush on UNMISS Patrol in Sudan

Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly condemned the deadly ambush on an UNMISS patrol in Jonglei, South Sudan, which resulted in the loss of two Ethiopian peacekeepers and injuries to several others.

According to Radio Pakistan, in a statement, Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations extended its deepest condolences to the Government and people of Ethiopia and to the families of the fallen peacekeepers. Pakistan reiterated that the safety, security, and inviolability of UN personnel and premises must be respected at all times and attacks against UN peacekeepers must be promptly investigated and those responsible brought to justice.

Pakistan reaffirmed its steadfast support for UNMISS and all UN personnel serving for peace in South Sudan.
