Islamabad: Pakistan has conducted strikes on verified camps of the Kharji Gul Bahadur group located in the border areas of North and South Waziristan along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar stated on his X handle that during a forty-eight-hour ceasefire period, the Kharjis operating from Afghanistan attempted multiple terrorist attacks inside Pakistan. These attacks were effectively countered by security forces, resulting in more than one hundred Kharjis being neutralized.
The Information Minister also reported a vehicle-borne IED attack carried out by the Gul Bahadur Group in North Waziristan, which resulted in the martyrdom of a soldier and several civilians, while others sustained injuries.
Tarar mentioned that precision strikes were conducted the previous night against the Gul Bahadur Group. Intelligence reports confirmed that between sixty to seventy Kharjis, including their leadership, were neutralized in these operations.
He dismissed any speculations and assertions about civilian casualties as false, claiming they were intended to garner support for terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan. Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to resolving the issue of Indian-sponsored terrorism originating from Afghan soil through dialogue and urged Afghan authorities to control non-state actors. However, he asserted Pakistan’s right to protect its territorial integrity and citizens, stating that terrorists operating from Afghanistan would not be allowed to remain unchallenged.
