Islamabad: Pakistan has reiterated its support for all efforts to promote cooperation and coordination between the UN Security Council’s subsidiary bodies and their respective groups of experts. Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, made these remarks during a briefing at the UN Security Council.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Jadoon emphasized the importance of supporting the Office of the Ombudsperson. He called for strengthening this institution with the necessary human and financial resources and autonomy to function independently.
Usman Jadoon also highlighted the pressing need for regulation of social media and ICT platform providers, facilitated by Artificial Intelligence, to curb their misuse and prevent the proliferation of hate, radicalization, exploitation of vulnerable youth, propaganda, and disinformation.
The Ambassador stated that Pakistan fully supports the shared goal of preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction to non-State actors. He underscored that as a frontline state in global efforts to counter terrorism, Pakistan has rendered invaluable sacrifices in its efforts to eradicate this menace.
