Pakistan Receives Investment Proposals for Major Projects in Maritime Sector

Islamabad: Pakistan has received investment proposals worth six to nine billion dollars for major projects in the maritime sector. According to Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, the investment projects include the construction of cargo, LNG, oil, and container terminals.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister emphasized Pakistan's strategic geographical importance, stating that the country aims to transform into a permanent regional maritime hub rather than serving as a temporary alternative. He highlighted that Pakistan earned approximately 396 million dollars from its maritime sector during the last fiscal year, underscoring the sector's growing significance.

Junaid Chaudhary also mentioned that the objective is not only to increase the maritime sector's contribution to GDP but also to make it a major source of foreign exchange, industrial development, and employment. The government has set an ambitious target of expanding Pakistan's maritime economy to 100 billion dollars by 2047.
