Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Efforts Towards Peace in Yemen

Islamabad: Pakistan says it will continue to support all sincere efforts aimed at de-escalation, dialogue, and a comprehensive political settlement that can bring lasting peace, stability, and prosperity to Yemen and the wider region. The remarks were made by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, while speaking at the UN Security Council Emergency Meeting on Yemen.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ambassador stated that the situation in Yemen has entered a deeply alarming and dangerous phase. He highlighted the sharp escalation of hostilities across multiple frontlines, continued Houthi attacks against commercial shipping in the Red Sea, and attacks against civilian and economic targets in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Additionally, he expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation, emphasizing that these developments have potentially far-reaching consequences for Yemen and the wider region. He underscored the urgent need to prevent further escalation and preserve the space for diplomacy.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and prosperity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stating that Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with its leadership, government, and brotherly people. He affirmed that, consistent with the UN Charter and international law, Pakistan fully supports the Kingdom's legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory, protect its citizens and residents, and safeguard its national assets against any threat.
