Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals

Islamabad: Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a pathway to climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and improved human well-being. Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Musadik Masood Malik expressed this commitment while chairing a high-level meeting with a five-member delegation of UNDP-Pakistan in Islamabad on Thursday.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister stated that Pakistan is engaging all relevant governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to ensure that no one is left behind in the journey towards a sustainable and climate-resilient future. He highlighted that Pakistan, as one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, stands at a crucial juncture. Investments in clean energy, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable urban development, and ecosystem restoration are key priorities to drive sustainable growth and enhance resilience to climate shocks.

The UNDP-Pakistan’s delegation was led by the country representative Samuel Rizk, who briefed the Minister on various aspects of Sustainable Development Goals and Pakistan’s progress on different goals, particularly climate change, environment, education, health, and gender equality.
