Pakistan Ready to Counter Any External Threat: FO

Islamabad: Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan has stated that repeated Israeli attacks against sovereign states in the region are a matter of grave concern not only for the Muslim Ummah but also for the international community. Responding to a question during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Friday, he highlighted that these provocations represent a dangerous pattern threatening regional peace and stability.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Spokesperson further mentioned that this issue has been actively addressed within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with a strong condemnation of the aggression and full solidarity expressed with the affected countries, most recently Qatar. He announced that an extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit has been convened in Doha on Monday to deliberate on a joint response. Khan emphasized that the Muslim World remains united in its demand for an end to Israeli hostilities and respect for international law and the UN Charter.

Answering another question, Shafqat Ali Khan affirmed that Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself against any external threat. He stated that Pakistan remains a responsible nuclear state and a proponent of regional peace and security. However, any misadventure or threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will be met with a resolute and calibrated response.

The Spokesperson also addressed a question regarding information shared by India about floods in different rivers through diplomatic channels, noting that it was not as detailed as in the past. He pointed out that the established channel of the Indus Water Commissioners has not been used for data sharing as required by the Indus Water Treaty. He reiterated that India should fully comply with all provisions of the treaty.
